Monthly Recap: September

As coffee shops worldwide switched from iced americanos to pumpkin spice lattes, and the crypto industry hailed the return of CZ to the realm of the free, at SQD, we worked hard to continue growing the network.

So let’s start there with a look at our current network stats.

Network Stats

  • Worker Nodes online: 1124
  • Data stored: 579 TB
  • Queries in past 24 hours: 1,252,530
  • Data served in past 24 hours: 9 TB.

The numbers have been increasing, and the data lake is steady above 1100 worker nodes. The more workers the better for access, and resilience.

Moving on to what else SQD has been up to.

New integrations

In September, SQD integrated various new exciting chains to the data lake, facilitating access to onchain data and increasing the range covered.

SQD integrated:

  • Citrea, a Bitcoin rollup that extends Bitcoin functionality with zk proofs
  • Mode Network, a rollup in the superchain that builds at the intersection of AI and crypto
  • Bitfinity, an EVM network running on top of Bitcoin, using threshold signatures for security
  • Termina, a network dedicated to scaling the Solana VM
  • Manta Network, the largest modular L2

SQD in action

Another notable event in September was the Limechain teams migration from the previous indexer to ArrowSquid processor which increased its speed, efficiency and indexing capabilities.

Giant Squid is entirely free to use, giving anyone building in the Polkadot ecosystem access to scalable, fast onchain data.

SQD Live

Since developers frequently ask about SQD network architecture, our team hosted a live broadcast in which SQD CEO Dmitry explained how SQD works in-depth and what’s next.

You can view the recording here or read the summary in this blog.

A few days later, the other SQD Co-Founder, Marcel, was part of a discussion on the potential of Web3 gaming. Listen to it here.

SQD in the press

SQD also got some press coverage, with SQD CEO Dmitry giving interviews left and right with his finest headshot.

A conversation with Dmitry Zhelezov, Co-Founder of SQD
Our approach to decentralisation involves several key strategies. Firstly, we ensure efficient storage by compressing data and distributing it across the network, making it accessible from multiple chains. This setup supports scalability and aligns with web3 values by being permissionless and decentralised. Our network architecture is designed to scale linearly—each new worker node enhances capacity and bandwidth.

Why Data Indexers Are Key to Bringing Off-Chain Data On-Chain | CoinCodex
Data indexers are essential for bringing off-chain data on-chain, enhancing blockchain applications with real-world information, and improving query efficiency.
