SQD Node Operator Spotlight ft Erick from Nodies

As of today, over 2,800 worker nodes are contributing to our data lake, storing more than 2.4 petabytes of onchain data. But you might wonder: who is behind these nodes?

In this new series, we'll be spotlighting the people who are a big reason SQD continues to serve terabytes of data without fail.

The first notable node operator we'd like to spotlight is Erick, who is part of Nodies - a prime infrastructure provider.

Here's what Erick shared with us.

How many nodes do you operate?

~500 and growing.

We're currently running a promo for $30/node as we've upscaled our infrastructure to support more and more SQD nodes.

How did you find SQD?

We have a history of supporting RPC and indexers in the past. Nothing came close to SQD when we conducted our study, and that led to our deep research blog post on SQD.

How did you find setting up the node? Was it easy/difficult?

It's not difficult, though you need to make sure you have sufficiently performant hardware and fulfill the uptime requirements.

Are you enjoying the gains?

Recommendations or top tips for aspiring node operators?

The node operator chat is a great place to go to, and the team is quite responsive to any problems you have.

How much time does maintaining the nodes per week/month require?

We're constantly improving our automation tools to reduce the time required. On a good week, it's basically zero. On a bad day (i.e, during unexpected incidents), it can be countless hours.

Thanks to Erick and the Nodies team for powering SQD!
